5/19/05 FCC Travelcomm citation for uncolicited faxes and header violations

The FCC Citation

“Travelcomm Industries, Inc. Travelcomm Industries, Inc.
a.k.a. Travel Comm, Inc. a.k.a. Travel Comm, Inc.
a.k.a. Canadian Travel a.k.a. Canadian Travel
a.k.a. Patriot Travel a.k.a. Patriot Travel
5895 Carrier Drive, Orlando, Florida 32819
5850 Lakehurst Drive, Suite 150-30
Orlando, Florida 32819
Attention: Rigoberto Sotolongo ...”

How many MILLIONS of faxes did they send?

They were served in January, ignored my complaint.

Comments:

I used to work for Travelcomm (or perhaps "Travelscam") and at one point I was "best Friends" with one of the owners Peter Sotolongo. 10 years ago; Pete was the greatest guy in the world, he would have taken the shirt off of his back to help out a stranger. Now he is a sick and twisted person; both him and his partner Dan are interested in only two things: Making money and screwing everyone else. On April 14(?), 2006; Pete sent me to McDonalds to get him some food and I forgot the Chicken McNuggets; so he took a golf club to my head, it took three people to pull me off of him. Do not trust any of these guys; if you want to travel, go to Travelocity or any of the other big guys. Because if you give these guys your money, you will be staying in the Cockroach Hotel. PS. Their customer service department is a joke; they have a contest as to see how many people they can keep on hold at once. And once they do get around to talking to you; they just do everything to keep you from traveling and if you protest, they will get ugly on you. If you receive an unsolicited fax or email, just throw it away with the rest of the garbage. Because that is where all of these guys belong. And if you are reading this Pete, this is only the beginning......

Christine:

Including the fax and voice blasting; millions, I'm sure.

Whenever they someone trying to serve them, they just will tell the server that they are at the wrong place. Sometimes, it can and will get nasty.

These guys have ZERO regard for anyone but themselves, so I don't know what else to tell you....

John can you contact me regarding this cause I gave these guys my credit card info already...this was supose to be my honeymoon and here I am balling my eyes out cause I can't believe this is happening.

These guys got me too. what can i do?

If you got screwed by these guys; the first thing that you can do is contact your credit card company and pray that you did not use a debit card. Usually if you dispute the charges within 30 days, you will win; AMEX & Discover card users can dispute up to a year. Basically; once you sign the contract, you are screwed. But it's like rolling the dice; you might win, you might not.

Don't even bother going to the BBB, they are about useless as boobies on a brass witch in this situation and the BBB have a file about a mile long on these retards, so stand in line.

Next thing is contact your lawyer; but once again, stand in line. They have process servers rolling up to their doorstep almost daily; in fact one of my main jobs was to chase them away. Though I have to admit that was kind of fun.....

If all else fails; go to your local news channel. The one thing that they hate the most; is the sight of the TV crews pointing their cameras in their direction. It got so bad a couple of months before I "left"; they put that green construction netting on the fence around the property.

The real funny thing is that they are always hiding behind that fence; but the two head bozo's had a huge billboard with their pictures put up next to the building saying "join the winning team". If you ever go to Orlando; you can't miss it at 5895 Carrier Dr.

Last but not least; right after I left, their office was broken into and their computer servers were ripped off. The person just walked in and took the hard drives out the computers and walked out. My guess is that those hard drives had all kinds of personal information like names; addresses; maybe even credit card numbers. So if you are one of their victions; most likely someone has all of your information; all 50,000 of you.

Good luck to all......

** IF ** any non public and especially any financial customer data was stolen, that ought to be investigated by the FBI. I think there are now laws requiring notificaton of customers in most states.

Guess again & welcome to Florida; they filed a police report and I really don't think it went any further than that. I talked to the cops; but they have bigger worries than catching someone who ripped off a scam shop that was too dumb to change their locks after a dozen or so managers have come and go. A couple of months before I left; I went to them about rigging up a security system for them; because their own employees were robbing them blind. They have the system now; kind of locking the barn door down after the horse escaped.

Travelscamm thought that I did it (I didn't); they even offered me $500 to take a lie detector test, I told them it would cost them a $1,000. But honestly; I really don't want them to find out who did it, that way it can and most likely will come back and bite them in the hiney.

Honestly folks; they have been reporting guys like these on the news for years. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. So once again; I must say, go to the big guys. At least when they mess up, it's easier for the customer to get satisfaction.

Believe me; customer satisfaction is the last thing on these retard's minds.

The person named john is really menataly retarted.
Travelcomm may not be the best company in the world but has provided vactions to more then 100k people and has provided a pay check to alot of people who would normaly not be able to work such as john who was told mabey it was a good idea for him to collect SSI based on his mental disorder.

When john came to work with us his lights at his home where off and he was about to lose his home.

I find it hard to believe that just anyone could post a comment on this page without it being reviewed.

John please dont be upset becasue you where fired due to you not being able to do you job..

The only reason why I was fired is because I forgot the chicken McNuggets and I had a golf club swung at my head for doing so. You sign your name "Former Manager"; but you don't have the balls to ID yourself. I never knew a Chris Stone; so I don't know what to tell you on that one. Yeah; when I came on board, I was down and out; who wasn't at one time or another. But towards the end I made some smart investments and now I own a mess load of property and I have a great job where I don't have to worry about being assaulted; having TV crews or cops pounding down my door. Also; when you speak of mental disorders, maybe you should address your grammar which is totally atrocious. I have a college education; you can barely spell your name. So go F*** yourself and have a nice day and tell Pete and Dan I said "HI".

John, I almost didn't approve "Chris Stone's" comment, but figured you'd respond exactly as you did.

For more info on the scum at Travelcomm:

http://www.junkfax.org/fax/profiles/Travelcomm.htm

From 12/06:

"A lawsuit has been filed by the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services against Travelcomm Industries Inc.

Anyone who has been scammed by this company should contact :

Louis E. Stolba, Sr. Attorney
Office of the General Counsel

Terry Rhodes Bldg. 2nd Floor

They are seeking a permanent injunction against Travelcomm prohibiting it from violating Florida statutes regarding sale of travel and seeking restitution from Travelcomm for persons injured by their actions.

..."

I have not verified this, appreciate the case # and any links about this litigation.

You don't need to believe it, because it's not true. I just wanted the low-lives at Travelcom to be exposed, figured "Chris Stone" wasn't a real name and is just another lying scumbag.

Wow; I've been accused of many things, but never being "menataly retarted". That sounds serious, where should I go for this? Considering that there was not a "Chris Stone" working at travelscamm while I was there and I would never would have been under a retard like you, I reported only to Pete & Dan because of the sensitivity of of my work. This tells me that you know 2 things regarding this situation, Jack & doo doo; and of course Jack left town on you a long time ago and he took your spell checker with him. How come we never hear from Pete or Dan? Why; because with every thing else, they let their lackeys do the dirty work. You of course may malign me at your convenience, but you might want to consult thesaurus whilst doing so....

I am also an ex-employee of Travelcomm/Patriot Travel or whatever they go by lately. I actually worked for them about 6 years ago when they had the office located on the corner of International Drive and Carrier Dr across from the Chili's restaurant. I always kind of had a feeling that this place was shady but didn't really find out to what extent until I chose to leave.

When I started working there I was 19 yrs old and wanted to make some extra money. My first impression of their office was that it was real cheap, and it looked a little shady. But I was curious, and interested in the possibility of making extra money so I decided to give a try.

I started off doing pretty well and was making a decent amount of money. In addition to the 10% commission I would make per sale, they also offered daily cash spiffs. You needed to make a min of 2 sales in one day and you would then get $10 per sale. If you made 5 sales, you would get $50 bonus on top of the $10 per sale. So you could walk away with $100 cash in one day, in addition to your weekly paycheck.

The package that I was selling seemed like a really great deal. $299 per person in a 4-5star resort and unlimited food and alcohol.Thats how I sold a lot of packages, I focused on the value of unlimited food and alcohol. I never realized I was screwing people completely over.

After working there for a couple months I began to get a little more suspicious. Especially when we started offering packages through internet pop ups. People would get a pop up saying they won a trip to Cancun and they would call in all excited and we would have to then convince them to give us their credit card.

When people would call in they would give us their certificate number or whatever it was called and we would tell them we were going to place them on hold to verify that number on our (imaginary) computers. Meanwhile, while they were on hold we would just talk amoungst ourselves. When we came back on the line we had to sound really excited as we said Congratulations and told them that they won a discount of over $1500 ( I forgot the exact amount) off the cost of an all inclusive cancun package. We then proceeded to tell people about the $299 per person charge. Some people got mad and hung up while others fell for it.

I shortly left the company after getting in argement about my work hours with one of the managers. I was already sick of the job and all the BS and that arguement was just the icing on the cake.

My roommate at the time still worked there and after I left she filled me in on some more details that she found out about. I found out that when they do they recorded verification at the end of the sale they quickly mention that holiday and peak season surcharges do apply. But when you go to book, pretty much every day is either a holiday or peak season.

This place is such a rip off. That owner Pete, he's such a wannabe. We used to have meetings before the shift and he would go on with his "motivational" crap to try and get up pumped up. And every time he would rip off quotes from that movie Boiler Room. Which ironically is about a fly by night company that also scams people out of a bunch of money.

Don't get me started on that guy Dan. Wow, he's such an old perv. He used make comments sometimes that were definately crossing the line of sexual harrassement. But to be fair, he was always nice to me. Probably because I made him money and I had boobs.

After reading so much stuff online about that place and all the people who got screwed, I am glad I left when I did. It seems like they got worse and more dispicable after I left.

I feel sorry for all those people who got screwed by them. I hope they get shut down and the owners get thrown in jail for fruad. Good luck to all those who are suing them. I hope you get your money back.

-Charlotte

PS. I still work in the area, and I too saw that huge bill board with faces of those two retards. I don't know if it's still up there... but I used to crack up at the sight of it. I mean, who does that?? LOL
Posted by Charlotte on 07/05 at 01:38 PM | #
Thanks for your post, Charlotte. I still haven't see Boiler Room yet, have to make time for it.

Ever wonder how few scams would be sold if the SALES PEOPLE were personally liable?

You quit, but many people don't. And at least the managers ought to be subjected to criminal penalties.

You speed on the freeway and you can go to jail. These guys cause REAL damages and they get away with it.
