Accessing your FREE credit reports at annualcreditreport.com from outside the US?

I have a client in the military who can’t get to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/

She gets a 404 or some error.  Could they be restricting access to military personnel overseas?

There is no problem accessing PAID reports at the CRA sites from overseas.

I have also had several reports of the FREE reports declined because they were unable to verify the identity, but they had no problem taking the money for paid reports.

The CRAs finally unblocked links to the FREE Annual Credit Reports

The only thing more irritating than the CRAs blocking the links to the FREE Annual Credit Reports were the idiots defending the block.

Apparently somebody finally told the CRAs to cut the crap and the links work now.

FACT Act annual free reports = 45 days for CRAs to investigate?

Equifax screenshot

“This verification process can take up to 30 days from the date your investigation request was initiated.  Investigations because of your FACT Act free disclosure may take up to 45 days.”

Is that extortion or what?

If you pay for their reports, your investigations get done 2 weeks sooner.

Annual free credit report order by phone requires HOME PHONE NUMBER

http://www.annualcreditreport.com/

As always, don’t ever give creditors and CRAs your HOME phone number.

Your home phone number is the most valuable data on the credit reports.

Not only will they hound you to the grave if you are or ever become delinquent, but you’ll be inundated with sale calls. Citibank is especially obnoxious, my neighbors get calls almost daily for the crap they want to sell their customers.

If you have regular internet access, get yourself a free number from one of the many services such as J2.com or K7.net for all your business.

It took over 8 minutes for the phone order, there’s no way to get to a person and with lots of luck, they may actually send out my TU report within 15 days.

Trans Union refuses to provide me with my credit report

They’re really motivating me to sue them again.  I tried to order my free annual report again and it was a real hassle.

First I entered ALL the information again because I couldn’t find any way to log in.  Then, they told me my login was taken.  So I made a new login.  Then they didn’t like that and finally provided me with a link to log in.

What do I get for going through that huge hassle?

“ Please Contact Us by Phone or Mail

What happened:

We cannot provide you with a Personal Credit Report.

Explanation:

For security reasons, your Personal Credit Report is not available online.

What to do:

Please return to annualcreditreport.com and order your Personal Credit Report by phone or mail.”

How stupid can the braindead idiots at Trans Union be?  THAT stupid!

In case you’re new here, I was an ID theft victim in March and have repeatedly requested that credit reports should NOT be sent by snail mail as much of the mail is misdelievered or stolen.

Just last week I heard of a new investigation in my neighborhood because a lot of people didn’t get their packages in the last month and there’s someone in van just cleaning out the mail boxes.

Good going Trans Union!
